Who we are: An interdenominational Christian learning and sharing cooperative, serving homeschooling families and students, from high school through infants.
What we do: help meet the needs and challenges of homeschooling families with high school students by providing academic, enrichment, and social opportunities for their children, from high schoolers to babies.
Some of our fall classes are continuing and not open to new students for Winter Semester, but there are plenty of opportunities for you to jump in and have a learning adventure! Come for the Choir; stay for the Java!
Choir: Does your student love to sing? Adventurers Homeschool Choir offers middle-school and high-school musicians the chance to sing a broad variety of music in 3- and 4-part harmony. We focus on listening, beautiful sound production and musicality to sing classical, folk and sacred music. From Renaissance madrigals to Barbershop, from Broadway to Bach, we sing a little of everything. Love to sing? Come join us. We love to sing, too! How We Know What We Know: Do you have a science buff that isn't into history? Do you have a history buff that needs work toward a science credit? This is the class for you! How did we make great discoveries such as electricity, theories of astronomy, internal combustion and jet engines, radiation, nuclear power, radio waves, antibiotics, immunizations, medical imaging, the internet and computers? Service Projects: Do you have a heart for the world? Would you like to learn some craft skills as you benefit others? We will be making various projects for local charities. Some examples are knitting baby hats on a loom, and pillow case dresses for girls in Haiti. You do not need to know how to knit- we will be using a loom. No sewing experience needed. Costume Design: What would Aslan look like? How about children from '50s England? We will focus on designing and constructing costumes for the Adventurer's production of "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." Through this process we will look at basic design principles. JAVA Adventure: a programming course for beginning programmers. We will cover variables, control statements, classes/objects, GUI components and graphics, while building an adventure game.
